Frequently Asked Questions

Many of the features of CoActLive are explained here. If you have questions or comments about this help desk, feel free to contact us.

  1. What is a Wiki?

A wiki is a website that everyone in an organization can edit. Wikis are composed of web pages you can change easily anytime you want.

The word "wiki" comes from a Hawaiian word for "quick". Wikis were invented about 10 years ago by Ward Cunningham. Wikis are becoming the collaboration tool of choice for many businesses because they are simple and flexible.  Most wikis today still require technical skill to install and use, while others are full of confusing and unnecessary features.

CoActLive is simple to deploy and use for anyone in the enterprise.  It requires no special technical skills or know-how.  Adding content is as easy as creating a new Word document.

  2. Why is CoActLive free?

We believe that great software should be free for anyone to use.  Our business model includes an upgrade path that makes sense for each company.  You are never forced to upgrade but are allowed the freedom to do so when it suits your business needs.  We take this philosophy very seriously and apply great care in every aspect of CoActLive.  We treat each of our deployments as an Enterprise Ready System.

  3. Is CoActLive secure?

CoActLive is completely secure.  Your data is protected through an authentication process to insure that no one without proper permissions can access your information.

  4. Will you share my data with anyone?

Your data is completely private to you and we do not share any of it.

  5. How can I use CoActLive in my business?

CoActLive can be used to address many business specific problems.  Please visit our solutions page to see how other companies are using this great technology.

  6. When should I upgrade?

You are free to upgrade whenever you want.  We have prepared an upgrade guide to help you with this very important decision.

  7. What is a Topic?

A topic is analogous to a web page.  Topics can be created quite easily by a click of a button and can contain text, images, links, video and audio files and Internet widgets.

  8. What is a Web Space?

A Web Space like a mini web site within the main CoActLive site.  Web Spaces can be used to categorized Topics into logical areas such as Marketing, Accounting, Human Resources, and Support.  Web Spaces are containers of Topics.

  9. What is different about CoActLive?

CoActLive is not just an Enterprise Wiki but it is a Business-Grade Application Platform to create Situational Applications or MicroApps to meet the needs of a specific business process or department.  Each MicroApp can be totally customized to fit perfectly into your business process; which is why we call it ‘Taylor Made Software’.

  10. Can I get my data out if I decide to stop using CoActLive?

Yes.  We can export you data and provide it as a download.  This will include all the content on every topic you created as well as any file attachments.
